Having a meditation journal

We practice meditation to help us become more mindfulness. Mindful is about being present(in the moment) and also about maintaining an awareness of where we have been and where we are going . A meditation journal can help us with all of those areas.

Benefits of Meditation Journals

Meditation journal could help us keep track of our meditation progress. It helps us have a more definite sense of what is actually going on. It’s especially helpful for those who have just begun to meditate.

Just take a few minutes after meditation to notices and write down what we have been experiencing. By writing down our experiences, we become more aware of our weaknesses and our strengths, and what we need to work on. It also allows us to look back to see our experiences as we progress in our practice.

How to keep notes

How you keep notes is really up to you. It could be about the positive or negative things you experienced during your meditation or a just brief summary. You should find a format that works for, but here is just some general things that you could use to start any entry: Name of the meditation practice, date and the duration of the meditation, following by your brief summary. An example could be like…how your meditation went, what are some distractions and what you did about them, also what are some positive things about the meditation.

Try it out and see if it help you in your meditation practice. All you need is a small notebook to get started. If you don’t already own a journal, we have some journals here in our store.
